We cancelled our slip when we left on our 4 month cruise. So when the trip was cancelled 3 days into it because Marty fell and broke her wrist we called the marina and asked for another slip. They called last week of June and said they has a slip for us starting July first. So we talked to friends on a Thursday. Walt jokingly said move it that weedend and they replied " lets go!". So walt and Mike took the boat to Jarrell's Cove; a good 3 day trip and Chris and I had a good couple of days hitting quilt shops between Coupeville Wa and home.
Now the boat is only 4 hours away instead of 8 hours! Good waterfront property when the doctors say not to sail for several months

Alternative plans
Since the broken wrist has delayed the Alaska trip by a year we are enjoying the summer at home. Walt has designrd decks around 3 sides of the house and pavers in the round at the window wall and a fireoit that will accent the back summer deck.
Most people move furniture on Saturdays. We moved Big rocks. We had to phone friends to help. I am not much good with only one hand. End result is rocks in an eye pleasing location to have surrounded by pavers.

Third day and end of the Alaska trip
We left Eagle Harbor Marina early to catch the ebb tide and headed north towards Penn Cove on Whidby Island. Rain, clouds, wind. We motorsailed under jib. One of the pictures is of a fire boat practicing. You can see the stream of water. By late afternoon the wind was over 20 knots so we proceeded into Coupeville under motor. The wind was gusting to 28 knots away from the dock and Marty fell on the dockbut managed to get theboat tied up. The bad news is that I broke my left wrist in 2 places my nose and am sporting a glorious shiner! The really bad news is that the Alaska trip is off while we go home for surgery. Rob and Becky will continue without us. We willmiss them. But no unworkable problems. I guess God and the weather were against this tripfor this year

February 2012. Back to blogging
If I can figure out how to access my blog from my computer AND iphone I will resume blogging about our cruising adventures.
We moved the boat to Jarrell's Cove Marina on Harstine Island, between Shelton and Olympia Wa at the end of our cruise last September 2011 we are closer to our cruIsing grounds. I will try to post a summary of our cruise to BC the Broughton Archipellago.
We just spent the week staying on the boat and the weekend at the Seattle Boat Show. After attending several seminars, we have decided to join our friends Rob and Becky Hamilton and cruise with them to Alaska. So "North to Alaska aboard Sv- Brigadoon & mv-Maxine" will be the story to come. Plans are to leave early May and head back south around Ausust 1 taking until weather turns sometime in September.
